These are just a few tips to improve you online marketing strategy. These are by no means ALL the tips you need to have a successful plan but they can get you started!
Website design
- Minimize clicking: Today online consumers expect instant gratification. Too much work or "clicking" can deter someone from your website.
- Make sure your website design is organized and easy to navigate.
- Make sure your website conveys the message you want to get to your consumers.
- Don't make your website design too wide! Users don't mind scrolling up or down on a site but they hate scrolling left and right!
- Make sure your website is easy to read. The main purpose of your site is to inform your consumer. Don't distract the visitor with blinking lights or an overload of movement.
- Make sure each page of your website has something valuable to offer.
Search Engine Optimization (SEO)
- Make sure your URL or domain name is good for at least 5 years. This helps with SEO!
- Research and choose your keywords prior to writing content for your site. Be sure to determine the competition rate and average clicks for each keyword.
- Don't make a site completely with Flash. It might look cool but it doesn't do squat for SEO.
- Don't keyword stuff! This is a quick way to get your flagged by major search engines and that isn't a good thing!
Social Media Marketing
- Be sure you have something useful to say in your social media marketing strategy and say it often!
- Listen to what others have to say. Social media marketing is a two way street, it is about conversation. This is a key part of the social media marketing strategy.
- Use your site as a tool to further explain what you are discussing in all your social media arenas.
- Be honest and don't avoid negative issues. Always address your consumers.
